Laminate flooring is a great all round floor covering made of synthetic materials fused with a lamination process and simulate the look of real wood or stone flooring for a fraction of the cost.
This type of floor covering has become very popular in the UK since its conception, it may not be as hard wearing as other flooring options but it’s ease of installation and maintenance paired with a fairly low cost have made laminate an often seen choice in may households.
Individual boards are joined together using a tongue and groove system which are clicked together and laid over a spongy moisture and sound proof underlay taped onto a flat and level sub floor with an expansion gap around the edge to cover larger areas. I always use the highest quality underlay as it offers the best finish with less give. I can remove and re-install your skirting board or fit your new skirting boards or beading trims along the wall or existing skirting board.

Wood Effect Laminate
Laminate flooring is a synthetic floor covering which is designed to simulate the look of a natural wood grain, it is a great choice as a floor covering as it is hardy, easy to clean and available at a fraction of the price of real wood flooring.
The boards are usually made from a fibre board or resin material which is clicked together using a tongue and groove system. They come in a wide range of wood grains as well as other effects such as natural stone and are available at prices to suit most budgets
If you are looking to have laminate flooring installed at your home, it is important to ensure the floor surface is flat and level or your laminate will bounce somewhat and may crack or war over time, if the surface you are using is not level you should prepare the surface using a self levelling compound, I can help you with advise and info if require as well as prepare your floor for you.
Kitchen Laminate
A great choice floor covering in a kitchen is wood effect laminate, a synthetic material made to simulate the look wood, it is available in most wood grains which allows you to match it to your kitchen units. It is a relatively hardy surface so wont damage easily and it is also wipe clean so you don’t have to worry about those little spillages either.
Laminate flooring comes in packs of individual boards which are fitted together using a ‘tongue and groove` linking system where the board are clicked together to make a complete, floating floor covering. Laminate must be laid onto an underlay usually made from a foam material, I advise the use of high quality, moisture proof underlay in general but especially in wet areas like kitchens.
This type of flooring specifically must always we laid onto a dry, flat and level floor or you risk bowing, cracking, board separation or other damage to your laminate, if your floor is not in the right condition for laminate I will advise you as to what needs to be done and undertake the work if you wish.
